Report: Healthcare Prices Up 2.4 Percent

The Alstarum Institute has released its monthly price indices through August 2012.

According to the report, healthcare prices in August were 2.4 percent higher than the previous year—the highest year-over-year reading since September 2010. The category with the highest price growth was prescription drugs at 4 percent; hospital prices grew 3.6 percent.

The study found that, since start of the recession in December 2007, health care prices have increased by 11.9 percent, while prices in the economy as a whole have increased by 8 percent.
