Flu Season Worse Statewide

County health department officials in Texas are reporting a worse flu season than in the past, according to the Associated Press report. Statewide, there were about 12 percent more physician visits for flu symptoms in the last week of December, compared with the same week in 2011.

Dallas-Fort Worth parents have been seeking pediatric immunizations at county health departments due to a lack of vaccine at physician offices, according to the AP. At least six Texas children have died of flu-related illness since last fall.
