Texas Health Resources has joined with Cancer Support Community North Texas to create a comprehensive cancer-care network across Dallas-Fort Worth, the groups announced this week.
The partnership will provide patients and families who are dealing with cancer access to expanded social and emotional support services close to home. Initial plans include Cancer Support Community North Texas facilities on the campuses of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano.
An undisclosed gift from the Cambridge Mindful Living Foundation in support of the endeavor is leading fundraising efforts on behalf of cancer patients and their families. The foundation is a philanthropic organization founded by Dallas-based healthcare real estate developer Cambridge Holdings, Inc.
“Cancer Support Community’s expertise in offering essential support to cancer patients and their loved ones reinforces Texas Heath’s patient-centered philosophy and will mean the most comprehensive cancer care in North Texas,” Cambridge chairman and CEO Jean-Claude Saada said in a statement. “Cambridge is proud to support this important initiative.”
All services provided by Cancer Support Community are free and include educational presentations, support groups and networking groups, a children’s support program, nutrition seminars, as well as bereavement support.
