Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Rockwall is encouraging patients to take a more active role in their health by prescribing interactive, multi-modal programs created by Emmi Solutions. The programs use language patients understand to help them make sense of complex medical conditions, walk them through procedures, or prepare them for a hospital stay.
“Our mission is to treat the whole patient and, to do that effectively, patients need to be engaged in their care. Emmi allows us to efficiently and consistently help our patients be more proactive consumers of healthcare,” said Tami Hlus-Hawkins, vice president of patient care services at Texas Health Rockwall.
The Emmi platform—which is being tested initially with expectant mothers—allows providers to connect with patients and their families at their convenience, and on devices they already own. The programs can be viewed on computers or mobile devices. They can stand alone or be fully integrated into health information systems, electronic health records, and patient portals.
