THR, Methodist Join Forces to Build New Arlington Hospital

Texas Health Resources and Methodist Health System, in partnership with Nashville, Tenn.-based Centerre Healthcare, will build a freestanding inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Arlington, the two systems announced last week.

The joint-ventured hospital, Texas Rehabilitation Hospital of Arlington, will break ground this summer. This is the second partnership between rehab-specialist Centerre Healthcare and THR and Methodist.

“We are thrilled to expand the two partnerships we currently have with such outstanding, high quality organizations as Texas Health Resources and Methodist Health System, by creating this collaborative effort, and expect this to be as successful as both the Methodist Rehabilitation Hospital and Texas Rehabilitation Hospitals,” said Centerre Healthcare CEO Patrick Foster.

Plans for the 40-bed facility include services for patients with strokes, brain and spinal-cord injuries, amputations, complex orthopedic injuries, and other conditions. The new facility will allow both THR and Methodist to significantly expand their current services, both in capacity and capability, enhancing the scope of service and patient care for rehab services.

“The new hospital will allow us to provide quality, cost-effective inpatient rehabilitation services to more patients within Arlington and will further augment the already strong relationships among our organizations,” said Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital president Kirk King. “Aligning our acute-care hospitals with the new rehabilitation hospital strengthens our ability to coordinate patient care across the continuum of healthcare and improve patient outcomes.”

The new facility will employ approximately 150 people.

“Texas Rehabilitation Hospital of Arlington will serve as an important transitional service for our patients’ continued rehabilitation and recovery,” said Methodist Mansfield Medical Center president John Phillips. “This facility will allow us to greatly expand services to the North Texas communities we serve and is perfectly aligned with our mission to provide compassionate, quality care.”

Centerre has been named for five consecutive years in the annual ranking of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in America by Inc. magazine, and Modern Healthcare named Centerre as the fastest growing hospital company in the United States in 2012.
