Wellness Programs Land Fort Worth Mayor Honor From Texas Medical Association

The Texas Medical Association is honoring Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price for her role in launching citywide events to promote health and fitness.

The TMA cites three initiatives launched under Price’s tenure: FitWorth, meant to promote active lifestyles among children and employees; Walk! Fort Worth Pedestrian Transportation Plan, which aims to make the city more walkable; and the Blue Zone urban project, a citywide wellness model that helped Los Angeles reduce its obesity rate by 14 percent.

“These outstanding Fort Worth health leaders show us what can be accomplished when medicine, business, and community come together — the health of Texans can measurably improve,” said G. Sealy Massingill, MD, Fort Worth OB-Gyn and TMA Foundation president, in a statement.
