Members of the Genesis Physician’s Group can now serve Medicare and Medicaid patients through a new partnership with Cigna HealthSpring, the two announced this week.
The expanded group allows Cigna-HealthSpring customers to see GPG physicians and use of their services. The Genesis Physicians Group is the largest independent physician network in North Texas.
“With this expanded agreement we will be able to better coordinate clinical resources and align incentives among health care stakeholders. I’m confident that together we can deliver improved and affordable health care to our Dallas-Fort Worth customers,” said Jay Hurt, president and general manager for Cigna-HealthSpring’s Texas market.
Patients can now choose to join the Genesis Accountable Physician network, its integrated accountable care organization, and receive health coaching and other monitoring services for chronic, and often preventable, diseases.
“At Genesis, we work hard to support our independent member physicians as they navigate the ever-changing health care environment,” said Dr. Jim Walton, president and CEO of GPG and the current president of the Dallas County Medical Society. “To that end, we are excited about our expanded relationship with Cigna-HealthSpring. We believe supporting physicians in transforming the business of medicine will produce extraordinary results for our patients.”
