Two former Blue Cross Blue Shield executives have been hired to join the C-suite of the Scott & White Health Plan.
Linza Jones will serve as the plan’s chief sales officer while Dr. Kenneth Phenow will be its chief medical officer. Phenow’s professional accomplishments point him ahead of the curve for applying the tenets of value-based care. While at Blue Cross Blue Shield at CIGNA, he helped develop and implement patient-centered medical homes and pushed for shared saving reimbursement models and instituted transparency initiatives.
He’ll be charged with coordinating care, improving quality metrics, staying on top of clinical informatics, and helping keep patients engaged in their own care through programs and communication strategies.
“Returning to Texas to lead the clinical functions of Scott & White Health Plan during this time of unprecedented industry transformation is both exciting and challenging,” Phenow said in a statement.
Jones, meanwhile, will head statewide sales organization for group, individual, and Medicare plans. He has held senior leadership roles at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas and Oklahoma. In Texas, he built a general agency system and a small-business service center that targeted Texas employers.
The Scott & White Health Plan includes more than 200,000 patients, most of whom live in Central Texas. It will operate in conjunction with the Baylor Scott & White Quality Alliance.
