Children’s Medical Center of Dallas on Wednesday named Dr. Robert D.B. “Jake” Jaquiss as the new division director of pediatric and congenital cardiothoracic surgery as well as the co-director of its heart center.
According to a release, Jaquiss is a “national leader” in neonatal heart surgery and pediatric heart transplantation. Jaquiss was recruited by UT Southwestern and appointed to the UT Southwestern faculty, which provides services at Children’s Health. He is professor of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at UT Southwestern and the chief of UT Southwestern’s Division of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery. UT Southwestern faculty in the division perform procedures at Children’s Health.
Jaquiss said it is an honor to join the Heart Center at Children’s Health and work with a team devoted to the mission of making life better for children.
“I look forward to serving the families of North Texas and dedicating myself to the care of their children,” he said.
He graduated from Wabash College and Vanderbilt Medical School; Jaquiss also finished post-graduate training at Washington University School in St. Louis and St. Louis Children’s hospital. He has more than 20 years in practice and specializes in thoracic and cardiac surgery and congenital cardiac surgery. Jaquiss will be one of 11 doctors at Children’s Medical Center Dallas and one of 18 at UT Southwestern Medical Center in his field.
