Edgemere, a Senior Quality Lifestyles Corp.-sponsored retirement community, is moving into the second phase of construction on its $36 million expansion and renovation project. The second phase will focus on building additional homes and suites and updating amenities in Edgemere’s health services neighborhood, The Plaza, in Preston Hollow in the Park Cities.
Edgemere will add 35 apartment homes, eight assisted living apartment homes, 12 memory support suites, and 15 nursing private suites to the campus. The Plaza’s common areas, including the indoor and outdoor courtyards, dining areas, and underground parking garage, also will be renovated and updated to accommodate more residents and visitors.
John Falldine, managing director at Edgemere, believes The Plaza’s expansion will continue to uphold its reputation to provide residents with high standards of living.
“The Plaza offers a warm, friendly environment, along with innovative programs and a full calendar of activities intended to help the residents thrive,” Falldine said in a statement. “We believe that the completion of this expansion project will continue to allow us to provide area seniors with state-of-the-art care that’s unsurpassed in Dallas.”
The first phase of the $36 million expansion project funded a new state-of-the-art performance center. The two-story, 6,000-square-foot building located in the center courtyard will provide an entertainment space for residents to enjoy shows. In addition to the center, a new bar and lounge, café, learning center, creative arts studio and game room were added.
Once the second phase is complete, the finished project will add an estimated 75,000 square feet to Edgemere’s community.
Vanessa Curtright-Bowles, sales and marketing director at Edgemere, says the expansion and renovation will further position the company as the leading care community provider in Dallas.
“This multimillion-dollar expansion and renovation project will infuse another level of hospitality and excellence into our assisted living memory support and skilled nursing,” Curtright-Bowles told D CEO Healthcare.
Edgemere says at least 30 to 40 full-time jobs will be added once the expansion is finished. It’s currently scheduled for completion in early 2018.
Edgemere is a nonprofit, senior living community sponsored by Senior Quality Lifestyles Corp. It currently has 304 independent living apartments, 60 assisted living apartments, 31 memory care suites and 72 private skilled nursing suites and is the largest and most comprehensive life care senior living community in Dallas.
