Two Dallas–Fort Worth hospitals, Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth and Methodist Dallas Medical Center, made the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients list for the highest-rated organ transplant adult patient outcomes for 2016.
According the United Network for Organ Sharing, the U.S. hit a record high last year for the number of organ transplants performed, with 33,606 conducted.
The SRTR assessed transplant patient outcome data collected from other organizations and compiled a list of centers with the best outcomes that perform liver, heart, lung, kidney, and kidney-pancreas transplants.
The registry says it uses a risk-adjusted assessment to determine how often patients are alive with a functional transplanted organ one year after the procedure, then assigns a score of one (the worst) to five (the best).
Both Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth and Methodist Dallas received a “five” rating for adult kidney transplant patient outcomes for 2016.
