Irving-based Christus Health System has named Dean Alexander as its president and CEO for the Santa Rosa market in San Antonio. Alexander replaces Ken Haynes and will assume his new position effective April 3.
Alexander previously served as market executive vice president for TeamHealth’s Central Group in Nashville, where he oversaw significant growth through contract acquisition and mergers, initiated cost saving efforts, and improved patient and provider satisfaction for a 13-state region with more than 150 physician practice contracts.
Elaine Mendoza, Christus Santa Rosa Health System Chair, says Christus is “fortunate to have him join its healthcare ministry,” given Alexander’s extensive leadership at a variety of facilities in Texas, Florida, and Louisiana.
“[Alexander] brings a wealth of knowledge in developing and growing teams and cultivating outstanding physician relations,” Mendoza said in a statement.
Alexander says he looks forward to relocating to the San Antonio area and leading Christus’ Santa Rosa division.
“Healthcare is an ever-changing environment and I look forward to continuing the work the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate word began in 1869, and further growing and leading Christus Santa Rosa for years to come,” Alexander said a statement.
Alexander earned his bachelor degree from the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio, and his MBA at the University of Alabama, in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
