Irving-based Christus Health has named Traci Thompson as system director of advocacy and public policy for its Louisiana markets in Baton Rouge, La. This is a newly created position, as Christus’ Texas advocacy and public policy sector previously oversaw both states’ operations.
In her new role, Thompson will work to develop and implement a strategic, comprehensive effort to advance Christus Health’s state and federal policy and advocacy priorities, with an emphasis on the Louisiana region.
Thompson most recently served as counsel to Phelps Dunbar and as a partner to Breazeale, Sachse, and Wilson in Baton Rouge, La., and New Orleans. There, she focused on promoting telehealth education and access in Louisiana. Thompson also works on the Louisiana Task Force on Telehealth Access to assist with the state’s telehealth policies and regulations.
“I am thrilled to take on this new role and be part of a health care organization committed to the many communities we serve in Northern, Central and Southwestern Louisiana,” Thompson said in a statement.
Thompson earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Virginia and her juris doctor at Louisiana State University.
She is active in board service and philanthropic involvement at the Women’s Hospital Foundation, Emerge Center, Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre, Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations, American Health Lawyers Association, Louisiana Society of Hospital Attorneys, and the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
