Make-A-Wish Receives $750,000 to Support Wishes Across North Texas

Irving-based Make-A-Wish North Texas has received the largest single donation ever made to its chapter. The Lloyd family, which has gifted more than $1.016 million since 2012, gave $750,000 to fund patient requests and medical treatments.

According to Make-A-Wish North Texas, the funds will go directly toward granting “wishes” across North Texas. This now includes wishes being incorporated by medical professionals as a part of the treatment process, along with personal requests. In a statement, the organization said adding wishes into the treatment process “has been shown to significantly impact both the emotional and physical health of children who receive them.”

Scotty Landry, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish North Texas, says the organization is grateful for the timing and contribution by the Lloyd family. “Medical professionals are referring eligible children in record numbers, because they are seeing how wishes affect health outcomes for children fighting critical illness,” Landry says. “We’re learning more and more about the numerous ways wishes impact children, families and communities.”
