Partnership Aims To Eradicate Medication Errors in ER Departments

Dallas-based T-System Inc. and Boston-based eBroselow are partnering to rectify medication errors in emergency departments by putting “automated medical calculation” at the point of care in Dallas, Boston, and throughout the United States.

The joint venture aims to utilize eBroselow’s clinical support system and integrate it into T-System to enable users to manage medications better within T-System’s network and emergency department information system. T-System clients will be able to use eBroselow’s software applications, which provide “comprehensive, up-to-date acute medication dosing standards” to better inform patients and provide “safe medication preparation and administration through highlighted warnings and incompatibility and adverse reactions alerts.”

With this clinical decision support tool, T-System says, patients and emergency clinicians can access medication information quickly to reduce misdiagnoses and medication errors when distributing medicine in hospital-based emergency rooms, freestanding emergency centers, and urgent care centers.

Robin Shannon, senior vice president and chief product officer at T-System, said in a statement: “Combining T-System solutions with eBroselow’s automation and deep medication database will help hospitals avoid patient harm and enhance patient safety, as well as improve patient care outcomes.”
