Baylor Scott & White Health and Addison-based United Surgical Partners International have joined forces with Tyler-based Texas Spine and Joint Hospital. Under the terms of the new partnership, the Texas Spine & Joint Hospital will become part of Baylor Scott & White Health’s network in East Texas.
Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health is currently integrating the Tyler hospital into its network. According to Baylor Scott & White Health, it hopes to increase the scope of bringing coordinated care to patients, and make patients more easily accessible to “quality clinical resources” from a “large network of specialty medical expertise.”
Furthermore, as part of the Baylor Scott & White quality alliance initiative, the health system plans to utilize clinical and administrative data from Texas Spine & Joint to improve quality and efficiency, lower healthcare costs, and accelerate medical innovation in patient care.
Jim Hinton, CEO of Baylor Scott & White Health, said in a statement: “We are excited by the opportunity to partner with USPI and … this group of physicians to serve the people of Tyler. We believe this is an excellent way to expand our high-value integrated delivery network into new communities throughout the state.”
Brett Brodnax, president and chief development officer of USPI, which will have a management role in the partnership, said in a statement: “We are excited to partner with Texas Spine and Joint Hospital, which has distinguished itself as one of the highest quality and highest patient satisfaction hospitals in the country. The physicians, management, and staff … have done an incredible job of serving the surgical needs of East Texas.”
