Boston Hedge Fund Snags Nearly 6 Percent of Tenet Shares

Boston-based Camber Capital Management, a hedge fund, snapped up a 5.7 percent stake, or 5.7 million shares, in Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Corp.

According to a 13-G filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Camber disclosed it took the minority stake several days after the resignation of two Tenet board members representing New York-based Glenview Capital Management.

Glenview is currently Tenet’s largest shareholder, with around 18 percent of Tenet shares. With the two board members leaving and Camber taking the slice of Tenet shares, sources are speculating that Camber could wage an “activist campaign” to force changes at Tenet, which lost $56 million in its second quarter.
