While recent high-profile data breaches seem to have focused on multinational retailers like Home Depot, Michaels, and Target, healthcare providers and payers have been—and continue to be—on the front lines of cyber risk. Of the 142 data breaches publicly reported during the last six months of 2014, 47, or approximately one-third, involved the disclosure of personal health information from a public or private healthcare provider or payer.
