NIS: Vaccination for Infants on Track

The 2011 National Immunization Survey has concluded that nationwide vaccination coverage among children aged 19 to 35 months increased or remained stable in the last year and met or exceeded national Healthy People 2020 objectives of 90 percent for MMR, HepB, poliovirus, and varicella vaccines.

Healthy People 2020 objectives have not yet been met, however, for various vaccinations that have been recommended more recently, or for several that require multiple doses. Coverage for any vaccine differs by poverty level and varies across states, but trends in Texas coverage are consistent with national data and the state experienced statistically significant increase in coverage for the HepB birth vaccine since 2010.
