According to a news report, more than 1,200 uninsured people received free healthcare at a clinic in Dallas held Saturday.
The Dallas Convention Center was converted into a clinic by Communities Are Responding Everyday. Children received vision screenings and immunizations; adult patient care included kidney disease screening and electrocardiograms.
As D Healthcare Daily reported in late August, Dallas County has the nation’s second-highest uninsured rate among large U.S. counties—at 31 percent. Tarrant County has an uninsured rate of 23.6 percent, followed locally by Denton County at 17.2 percent and Collin County at 16.7 percent.
