CMS Innovation Leader Steps Down

Rick Gilfillan, director of the Department of Health and Human Services’ Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation is stepping down. Gilfillan has led CMMI since it was established in 2010 and has overseen its growth to an organization of more than 230 people, according to POLITICO.

Patrick Conway, chief medical officer of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, will serve as acting director of CMMI, while maintaining his other role as director of the Center for Clinical Standards and Quality.
