More than two-dozen physicians currently employed by Cancer Centers of South Texas are joining Texas Oncology, marking the Dallas-based oncology practice’s first push into San Antonio.
The physicians are located in 16 care sites in the greater San Antonio area. Their addition adds a number of new specialties to the provider network. Now, patients receiving treatment from Texas Oncology physicians have access to a designated center of excellence by the Myelodysplastic Syndromes Foundation as well as anticoagulation and thrombosis management.
Likewise, San Antonio patients will be able to receive treatment at the new Texas Center for Proton Therapy as well as the Austin Brain Tumor Center.
“We share with our new colleagues at Cancer Care Centers of South Texas a commitment to collaborate as a statewide clinical team to deliver excellent care to patients close to the support of family and loved ones,” said Dr. R. Steven Paulson, president and chairman of the board for Texas Oncology. “Working together, our priority is providing comprehensive, community-based, compassionate cancer care to San Antonio and surrounding areas.”
Texas Oncology now counts close to 400 physicians among its ranks in 170 locations throughout the entire state of Texas (and in the southeastern quadrant of Oklahoma).
