DCHHS Confirms First 2017 Mumps Case in Dallas County

The Dallas County Health and Human Services confirmed the first mumps case in Dallas County for 2017 at 6:17 p.m. on Jan. 19.

According to a statement, the exposure to mumps occurred locally and is not associated with any prior cases.

The DCHHS disclosed the patient is a Cedar Hill resident and of adult age, but has not provided any additional information for medical confidentiality and personal privacy reasons.

DCHHS continues to advise getting two vaccinations to prevent infection.
