Dallas-based Platinum Dermatology Partners, a dermatology-focused physician services organization aimed at connecting physicians in Texas, has added two Dallas–Fort Worth practices to its network. Dermatology Consultants of North Dallas and Dermatology Associates of Uptown, led by Dr. Kent Aftergut and Dr. Molly Burns Austin, joined Platinum, aiming to advance dermatology care in DFW.
According to Platinum, its business model is designed so that dermatologists in the network retain practice autonomy but have ownership augmented by its management support. Under this partnership, dermatologists with Dermatology Consultants of North Dallas and Dermatology Associates of Uptown can collaborate with other Platinum partner practices through the organization’s clinical advisory board to “advance care and services, and drive all clinical decisions, while remaining highly involved in business operations.”
Greg DeAtkine, CEO of Platinum, says it chose to partner with Aftergut and Burns Austin’s practices to further develop best-in-class care delivery. “We choose to partner with recognized leaders in the field who want to advance the practice of dermatology, are involved in the Dallas community, and remain dedicated to exceptional patient care,” DeAtkine told D CEO Healthcare.
Aftergut, who is the founder of Dermatology Consultants of North Dallas, will also serve on Platinum’s all-physician clinical advisory board. He said the company’s physician-led model was a key differentiator in his decision to join Platinum’s DFW network.
“Platinum’s physician-focused model is a different and very refreshing approach to dermatology practice management,” Aftergut said. “Having seen a number of changes throughout our specialty, it is important for me to make sure our practice maintains its identity while partnering with a group of highly-esteemed physicians.”
