Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas has acquired certain Medicare Advantage and commercial group membership from Allegian Health Plans, a subsidiary of Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare.
According to BCBSTX, the acquisition will provide Allegian members with “uninterrupted in-network access to Tenet’s hospitals, outpatient centers, and employed physicians in Texas.”
BCBSTX and Allegian have satisfied all regulatory requirements to finalize the agreement. The contract includes almost 20,000 members enrolled through small, medium, and large employer groups as well as Medicare plans.
Dr. Dan McCoy, president of BCBSTX, said, “We will work closely with Allegian’s members, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to address each individual’s healthcare needs, while helping them successfully navigate the evolving health care system.
“We are working closely with AHP leaders to ensure a smooth transition for our new members,” he added in a statement.
