For the seventh year, the Cooper Clinic Laboratory in Dallas has been selected to receive the COLA Laboratory Excellence Award.
The award, which signifies a commitment to performing quality patient testing and overall laboratory practices, has been given over the years to only a small percentage of U.S. labs.
COLA is a nonprofit, physician-directed organization promoting quality and excellence in medicine and patient care. The Cooper Clinic Laboratory team processes nearly 300,000 tests per year, including those involving a patient’s cholesterol profile, blood sugar levels, urinalysis, and thyroid stimulating hormone.
“Our … team is honored to receive this award,” Dr. Chris Abel, chief operating officer and director of the laboratory at Cooper Clinic, said in a news release. “Seventy percent of all diagnoses are made from lab testing, which means quality control is vital. Our lab processes provide extremely tight margins, so our patients receive more precise trending data year-over-year.”
