The Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2018 Hospital Safety Grades rated 53 North Texas hospitals, resulting in 26 A grades, 14 Bs, and 13 Cs. The group is a nonprofit that gives letter grades to general acute-care hospitals based on their ability to avoid errors, injuries, accidents and infections.
Nationwide, Texas moved from 14th in the nation the spring of 2018 to fifth this fall. The jump coincided with a 20 percent in crease in hospitals the received an A safety rating.
Of the 13 Baylor Scott and White hospitals, six received A ratings. Of the 11 Medical City hospitals on the list, 9 received an A. Texas Health’s 14 hospitals received seven top scores. All five Methodist hospitals in North Texas received an A.

The non-profit Dallas-Fort Worth Business Group on Health is the regional leader for the Leapfrog Group, representing employer purchasers of health care.
