Texas Health is Fifth on Fortune’s List of Best Places to Work for Women

Texas Health is number five on Fortune’s 75 Best Large Workplaces for Women, making the list for the third year in a row. It is both the top-ranked Texas business as well as health system on the list.

The rankings value organizations that highlight transparency and are committed to creating a positive work environment, and are based on employee feedback surveys. Mutual respect, opportunities for professional development and team work are some of the criteria for excellence.

At Texas Health, almost 80 percent of employees are female, and it offers a maternity support program, tuition reimbursement for mothers who want to go back to school, flexible working hours and onsite child care at some locations. About half of all management positions are female as well.

Encompass Health, a Dallas based home health company, ranked 19 on the list. The company employs over 8,000 people, around 85 percent of whom are women. Management positions are 45 percent women.

“Encompass truly believes in treating your coworker, supervisor, employee and patients with the same compassion and respect that we would expect for ourselves,” an employee told Fortune. “I can’t imagine ever working for another company, Encompass is my family.”
