HMS has just announced two new vice presidents to their analytics department. Jason Cooper will serve as Senior Vice President, Chief Analytics Officer for Population Health Management and Sanjeev Kumar as Vice President of Data Engineering and Analytics for the Chief Technology Office.
HMS’ goal is to reduce costs and improve outcomes for healthcare organizations through technology, analytics, and engagement solutions.
Cooper holds a master’s degree in computer science and biomedical engineering, has worked in various executive roles for health care companies such as Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey and CVS Caremark, and will bring more than 20 years of experience in data, analytics, informatics and technology to his position at HMS.
As SVP, Cooper will lead HMS’ population health management product suite in client analytics and consulting, clinical analytics and insights, health engagement design, and data science. He is a welcomed addition to the team, according to HMS executive vice president, population health management, Emmet O’Gara.

Cooper shares O’Gara’s excitement as well. “I am delighted to join the HMS team,” says Cooper, per release. “HMS’ population health management suite is poised to have a significant impact on healthcare industry through its unique early targeting of consumers with rising risk conditions who are most likely to benefit from care intervention and several other science-driven solutions.”
Prior to his current position with HMS, Kumar earned a Ph.D. in artificial intelligence and computer science form University College London, U.K., and went on to serves as vice president of artificial intelligence and analytics for Office Depot, as well as global vice president of enterprise data analytics for Avis Budget Group.
As vice president of data engineering and analytics for the chief technology office, Kumar will lead
artificial intelligence, machine learning, and analytics strategy. Chief technology officer for HMS, Jacob Sims, believes that Kumar’s prior experience will quickly influence the work being done at HMS.

Kumar looks forward to the work he will do at HMS to make healthcare more affordable for customers.
