Addressing Home Health’s Greatest Challenge: Staffing

Home health staffing challenges are negatively impacting business growth, compliance, and patient outcomes. LocDallas-based home healthcare technology solutions provider Axxess teamed up with Home Health Care News to conduct a staffing survey of 570 home health providers to better assess the threats to the industry and how to address them.

More than 95 percent of respondents said staffing challenges were impacting their business growth, with nearly two-thirds saying the issue was “very impactful” on growth. Staffing shortages impacted patient experience in 88 percent of the respondents, and 75 percent said it impacted compliance.

Popular solutions to address these issues are better onboarding, continuing education, financial incentives, rewards programs, flexible schedules, and using technology to improve the scheduling process.

“Among the many benefits of in-home care is the personal and ongoing relationship that can be created between the caregiver and the patient or client to improve outcomes, so it’s critical that everyone in our industry gets meaningful and timely information to help address staffing issues” noted John Olajide, founder and CEO of Axxess via release. “Our company is doing what we can to help providers meet staffing challenges with effective technology solutions, and we are very pleased that these survey results provide meaningful insights on effective strategies for the industry to consider moving forward.”

Axxess offers software solutions to home health providers that care for 2 million patients across 7,000 organizations. Home Health Care News provides breaking news on the senior in-home care industry.
