CPRIT Awards $15.4 Million to OncoNano For HPV-Caused Cancer Treatment

Southlake’s OncoNano Medicine, Inc. has been awarded $15.4 million to continue to develop one of its cancer treatment candidates. The funding is from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas will go toward pre-clinical and clinical development as well as the first phase of a trial for cancer caused by the human papilloma virus. The treatment is called ONM-500, which delivers antigens while engaging the immunity that already exists in the human body, fighting cervical, head, and neck cancers caused by HPV. UNT Health Science Center has honored Dr. Paul Saenz with the Mary E. Luibel Distinguished Service Award. Saenz is a graduate of the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine and Team Physician for the San Antonio Spurs. TheThe Mary E. The Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council has named Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – McKinney President Kyle Armstrong the 2019 Young Healthcare Executive of the Year and former chair of the Texas Health Resources Board of Trustees John R. “Bob” Ferguson the 2019 Kerney Laday, Sr. Trustee of the Year. The Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council has awarded Andy Stern with the Distinguished Health Service Award. The managing director of Club Oaks Consulting, board member of AMN Healthcare, and co-chair of Medical City Healthcare will be recognized for his commitment and generosity toward North Texas healthcare. North Texas’ Best Workplaces for Millennials

Texas Health Resources and Encompass Health were both named by Fortune and Great Places to Work to the list of Best Workplaces for Millennials. Texas Health Resources was No. 23 on the list, while Encompass Health placed No. 38. At Texas Health, the largest DFW employer to make the list, 37 percent of their 23,774 employees are millennials. The hospital system estimates that the generation will become the largest segment of employees by December. Of Encompass’ 10,705 employees, one third are millennials.
