Daniel Waldmann has been has been promoted to senior vice president of public affairs at Tenet Healthcare. He previously served as vice president of government relations. In his new role, Waldmann will oversee Tenet’s public affairs, government relations, and communications functions, reporting to Trevor Fetter, the company’s president and CEO.
Dr. Joan Bergstrom has been named president of the medical staff at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital, a role she’ll hold through May 2014. As president, she will chair the medical staff executive committee and serve as a liaison between hospital administration and the Board of Trustees. Bergstorm, who joined the medical staff 26 years ago, specializes in obstetrics and gynecology.
Christopher Madden, M.D., Interim Chief Medical Officer and neurosurgeon at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, will serve as Parkland’s Chief Medical Officer until a permanent CMO is recruited. Madden is replacing Dr. John Jay Shannon, who recently announced his intention to resign.
Sharon Phillips, Interim Chief Operating Officer for Ambulatory Care & Behavioral Health Services, will serve as the executive in charge of off campus operations at Parkland. She has an extensive background in turning around healthcare operations. Among other things, Phillips spearheaded the startup of Parkland’s Medicaid Managed Care operations.
Ron Laxton, Interim Chief Operating Officer for Hospital Operations, will now oversee Parkland’s acute care hospital operations. He currently serves as Chief Implementation Officer under the Systems Improvement Agreement with CMS. Laxton previously served as CEO of Renown Regional Medical Center & Children’s Hospital in Reno, Nev.
Ignacio Nunez, M.D., has been elected vice chair for Texas Health Resources’ Physician Leadership Council. He was also named medical director of robotic surgery at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital. Nunez joined the hospital’s medical staff in 1984, and is former medical staff president at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Olga Jones, board-certified in internal medicine, has joined Methodist Family Health Center Central Grand Prairie. A graduate of Samara State Medical University, Jones completed her internship and residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She also completed a post-graduate residency at Penza Institute.
Harold Berenzweig has been promoted to executive vice president and clinical leader of the Southwest zone at Texas Health Resources. He previously served as vice president of medical and information management at Texas Health Harris Methodist Southwest.
Nancy Collier LeGros has joined Christus Health as vice president of legal services and general counsel. She previously was a partner at King & Spalding in Houston. Earlier this year, Christus Health announced it was relocating its headquarters to Las Colinas from several locations, a move that will fully wrap up in mid-2013.
John Dragovits, former CFO and executive vice president at Parkland Health & Hospital System, has been named president and COO at Anthelio, a Dallas-based technology firm that serves hospitals, physician practice groups, and other healthcare providers. Dragovits brings more than 25 years of management experience to his new position. Prior to Parkland, he was vice president of Cerner Corp.
